Welcome to Helena, Alabama!
On behalf of the City of Helena it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our interactive website. I hope that you will find the information contained here both informative and helpful as you browse or seek information about the City of Helena's services, history and attractions. Located in the heart of central Alabama, Helena has a deep and rich history dating back to its initial incorporation in 1877, where the coal and iron industry began bringing new development to the area.
In the last twenty years Helena has experienced rapid and steady growth and is now recognized as a prime location for new opportunity and continued development . While we work hard to preserve its rich history and heritage, we also work hard to ensure that opportunities for new residential, commercial and educational growth are extended and enhanced.
I am extremely proud of our city officials and staff who work hand in hand with our business owners, citizens and visitors to provide a safe, friendly, and pleasant environment along with affordable and convenient services for all . The proof is easy to find, as Helena continues to be recognized nationally, by several organizations, as one of the safest and best places to live work and play in our great State. For a relaxing and pleasant experience, that I'm sure you'll never forget, be sure to visit one of our gorgeous parks or recreation facilities. Choices include Joe Tucker Park located just behind Helena City Hall, Cahaba Lily Park located near the Cahaba River, or you can choose to just stroll along the banks of Buck Creek in historic Old Town where you can experience a firsthand look into the heritage and history of our beautiful city.
