July 31 Chef Demo
Executive Chef Haller Magee of Satterfield’s Restaurant in Cahaba Heights will be the guest chef on Saturday, July 31. The cooking demo begins at 9:00 and will likely feature fresh figs if available, along with a wine tasting provided by Lorraine Donald at The Pleasure Is All Wine in Pelham.
Chef Magee is a native of Jackson, MS where one of his best friends exposed him to fine cooking at an early age. He has worked in many restaurants, starting out as the proverbial dishwasher and moving up the ladder in the kitchen. Though his initial degree was in horticulture, he found that cooking was his true calling and then proceeded to culinary school where he excelled. Hired by Satterfield’s in 2005, Chef Magee has moved from Sous Chef to Executive Chef, quite an accomplishment for such a young man.
Satterfields’ Restaurant is a fine dining establishment open for dinner only Monday-Saturday. Their menu boasts French, Italian, Mediterranean and Spanish influences and features an impressive wine selection. To view menu items or reserve a table, go to www.satterfieldsrestaurant.com.
The Pleasure Is All Wine in Pelham will host a wine sampling following the cooking demo. This spacious wine shop offers over 1000 wines from all price points and also stocks over 100 High Gravity beers. In store tastings provide an opportunity for even the novice wine drinker to become knowledgeable. See the website at www.pleasureisallwine.com or call 985-4760 for the tasting schedule.
