Joe Tucker Park Fishing Guidelines
[Posted 7/15/2007]

Don’t let the serenity of Joe Tucker Park fool you; this little lake is where big fish tales are born. Recenty, the City of Helena released new regulations for fishing the lake. Please read these carefully prior to packing up your tackle box. When you go fishing with your children, you need more than fishing gear. Remember to bring along the right attitude and the proper items for a safe, fun outing.

 • State law requires Alabama fishing licenses for both Alabama residents and non-residents. Please keep a copy with you at all times while you are fishing. You may be asked to present them.

• Fish shall be taken by rod and reel or pole and line only. Use of other methods of fishing such as trot lines, set hooks, nets, seines, spear guns, bow and arrows, etc. is prohibited.

• Artificial bait is accepted. The only live bait that can be used is worms and crickets.

• Hours of operation are dawn to dusk. NO fishing after sunset.

• Respect others in the park including children on the playgrounds, walkers and runners on the walking path, wildlife and others enjoying the park.

• NO fishing from the bridges.

• Always put litter in its place (ESPECIALLY DISCARDED FISHING LINE!)

• Limits: As of March 2007, those fishing are allowed to keep 2 bass (as long as they are over 12" in length), 5 catfish and 10 bream.

• A copy of these regulations may be obtained at the Helena Police Department.

• Always remember safety comes first! Happy Fishing and be sure to send us a picture if you catch a golly-whopper!
