FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Helena Utility Board Announces Proposed Water and Wastewater Rate Adjustment to Address Years of Deferred Investment

The Helena Utility Board is announcing a proposed upcoming adjustment to water and wastewater rates that would take effect April 2026.
This adjustment is necessary to address infrastructure and financial challenges that have developed over many years due to prolonged underinvestment in the water and wastewater system.

01/05/2026: THE PERIOD FOR PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT HAS CLOSED.

On-line Public Involvement is now open for the Intersection Improvements on SR-261 and CR-52 Project in Helena (Shelby County).  Please see ALDOT’s Public Involvement website to view and download Project Maps, Public Information Mailout, Comment Form, Contact Information, and Right-of-Way Information.  The In-Person Public Involvement Meeting will be held, Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM in the City Council Chambers at Helena City Hall.  Comments for the project will close on December 26, 2025.

The 54th Annual Helena Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, beginning at 1:00pm.

Testing of the Voting Machines

Shelby County Clerks Association will host the testing of the electronic voting machines for the upcoming Municipal Elections.

Testing will be on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 2PM at 280 McDow Road in Columbiana.

This testing is open to all candidates, media, and public that wish to attend.
