Public Questions for City Council Meeting 12.18.2024

Council has set a special called meeting for Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 5:30PM. This meeting will be for the Council to interview those who have applied for the vacancy in the Place 2 Council seat.

This will be an open meeting, but is not a public hearing. This means the only questions posed to the interviewing candidates will be done by Council members. However, the Council would like public input on the questions to be posed to the candidates. To accomplish this, members of the public are encouraged to email questions to the City Clerk (mharris@cityofhelena.org) no later than December 13th, 2024, at 12:00PM (noon). Any submitted questions should be about policy, qualifications, governing philosophy, and strategic planning ideas the candidates have for the City. Any questions outside the scope of these guidelines will not be included in the panel questions posed to the candidates.

The Council questions, including any relevant and appropriate questions submitted by the Public, will be provided to the Candidates in advance of their interviews. The Council, as the governing body of the City has the sole responsibility and discretion to fill this vacancy, has chosen this open meeting interview process to gather information prior to voting on the filling of the Place 2 vacancy.

In the interest of fairness to all applicants, each candidate will be interviewed individually by the Council and candidates will remain outside the Council chambers until their individual interview time. Once a candidate’s interview is complete, that candidate will be excused from the Work Session.
